Event Description
Join the Teen Services Librarians for a brand new book discussion on Zoom especially for teens in grades 9-12! Every two months, we'll discuss a new title and work together to write a letter to the author. This month, we will be reading:
You Should See Me in a Crown by Leah Johnson
Liz Lighty has always felt like an outsider and avoided the spotlight in her wealthy, predominantly white, and prom-obsessed midwestern town. But Liz has a plan that will get her out of Campbell forever: to attend her elite dream college to become a doctor and play in their world-famous orchestra.
When her financial aid unexpectedly falls through, Liz knows she must do whatever it takes to get to Pennington College--even if it means enduring a gauntlet of humiliating public events for the prom-queen scholarship. The only thing that makes it halfway bearable is the cute, funny new girl, Mack...who is also in the running for prom queen. As Liz faces her fears and crushes on the competition, she learns the value of true friendship and finds confidence in her identity.
Attendees who read the book and participate in writing a letter to the author at the program will receive 3 hours of community service.
