Program Description

Event Description

Raising a backyard flock can be rewarding for egg or meat production, and can be the perfect complement to a home garden, providing manure and bug control. Unlike vegetables, animals take more care and daily attention. This class will focus on breeds for egg laying, raising chicks to layers, housing, as well as sanitation and general care and feeding of poultry. Cornell Cooperative Extension will bring all of the information you need to start your own backyard flock. Chickens will also be in attendance!
