Event Description
Author Mark Torres will discuss his book, Long Island Migrant Labor Camps: Dust for Blood. It is the riveting account of the migrant labor camps in Suffolk County from their inception during World War II, through their heyday in 1960, and culminating with their steady decline towards the end of the 20th century. Mr. Torres will explore the dark history of the camps and the factors which led to their eventual decline. He will also cover the heroic efforts of those who were critics of the camps and fought to improve the lives of migrant workers on the eastern end of Long Island.
