Program Description
Event Description
This collaborative program with the Long Island Museum and author Beth Anderson centers around Anderson’s award winning book, Lizzie Demands A Seat: Elizabeth Jennings Fights for Streetcar Rights, which was published in 2020. Through this program, families will explore how an author brings history to life for her readers, and how this particular book serves as a powerful example of the fight for social justice in our country. Additionally, museum educators will highlight primary sources, including carriages in their collection, to further enhance the immersive experience of this program. Families will tour the museum and then meet the author virtually on Zoom at the museum.
Please note that this program is offsite and meets at the Long Island Museum in Stony Brook. Space is limited.
