Event Description
Italian Genealogy 101, will go step-by-step through the process of searching for and interpreting Italian Genealogical Records. Through dedicated digitization efforts, it has become easier than ever to research an Italian family back through the nineteenth century because the majority of civil records can be found online, often from the comfort of one's home. This lecture will also discuss strategies for obtaining Italian records that are not online. By analyzing sources that are both online and offline, it is possible to construct a comprehensive Italian family history.
Presenter Alec Ferretti is a Dual Masters Student at NYU, where he is pursuing degrees in Archival Studies and Library Science. He works as a genealogist with the Wells Fargo Family & Business History Center, specializing in Italian, Jewish and Latin American research. He is the President of the New York Genealogy & Technology Group, an informal organization which facilitates bi-monthly lectures and discussions. Alec recently joined the Board of Directors of Reclaim the Records, a nonprofit which seeks to restore public access to genealogical documents.
