TeenProgram Description
Event Description
Be a part of the Great Back Yard Bird Count and earn community service! During the program we will learn about the birds that call Long Island their home, while we build bird feeders from recycled materials. Then, between Friday, February 14th and Monday February 17th, count and identify birds over two fifteen-minute sessions at home. The data you collect will be used as part of a global initiative to track bird populations, while the bird feeders you build can be used in your own backyard!
Certificates for 1.5 hours of community service will only be awarded to teens who attend the program and return a completed bird count tally sheet to the library by Friday, February 21.
