This lecture will provide a science-based overview of the novel coronavirus that causes COVID-19. Participants will learn about the history of pandemics, basic biology and impact on public health and the worldwide effort behind global drug and vaccine development. A review of the US regulatory process that treatments must undergo in order to gain FDA approval will also be highlighted. There will be a Q&A after the lecture. The speaker, Andrew G. Clair, Ph.D., is a pharmacologist and past member of the pharmaceutical industry.
