Join George Walsh and Don Fisher of the Railroad Museum of Long Island, as they present on the 1890’s history and development of the Boynton Electric Bicycle Railroad. This talk will focus on this little known “Long Island” railroad that ran from East Patchogue north to the LIRR tracks with plans to extend north through Middle Island to Rocky Point. Learn about the intriguing story of the proposed “hanging monorail,” the colorful investors who hoped to develop the Mid-Island region, the family turmoil that thwarted the plan and the eventual extension of the Long Island Rail Road to Wading River.
