Almshouse Cemetery Tour

Join our local history librarians for a visit to the Almshouse Cemetery in Yaphank. The Suffolk County Almshouse's history, its residents' lives, and the cemetery will be presented. Patrons will be able to explore the grounds after the presentation. Weather permitting. 

Details to know before you go: 

Do not follow Google or Apple Maps. The cemetery is located along the south side of the Long Island Expressway and is accessible from the eastbound Exit 67 entrance. From Main Street in Yaphank, go south on Yaphank Ave and follow the signs to the eastbound direction of the LIE. Park along the side of the ramp; a staff member will direct you to the site. There will be a brief walk along a path in the woods to get to the cemetery.  

Please be prepared for the weather and ticks, as this is an outdoor event in an open grassy field.
