Event Description

Join the Teen Services Librarians for a brand new book discussion on Zoom especially for teens in grades 9-12! Every two months, we'll discuss a new title and work together to write a letter to the author. This month, we will be reading:

Miles Morales: Spider-Man by Jason Reynolds

Miles Morales is just your average teenager. Dinner on Sundays with his parents, gaming with his best friend, Genke, and crushing on the brainy and beautiful Alicia. He’s even got a scholarship spot at the prestigious Brooklyn Visions Academy. Oh yeah, and he’s Spider-Man.

As Miles tries to get back on track after his scholarship is threatened, he’s haunted by nightmares and the relentless buzz of his spidey-sense every day during history lectures about the historical “benefits” of slavery and the modern prison system. When Miles uncovers a chilling plot--one that puts his friends, neighborhood, and himself at risk--it’s time for him to suit up.

Attendees who read the book and participate in writing a letter to the author at the program will receive 3 hours of community service.
