Summer Battle of the Books
"Battle of the Books" is a county-wide book trivia contest for students who are cardholders at Longwood Public Library and entering grades 6 through 9. Over the summer, participants read eight books, attend ten practice sessions, and then compete in teams against one another and other libraries at a "Mock Battle of the Books," which is held at a local public library. The top-ranked players will also go on to compete against teams from libraries across the county in August at Stony Brook University. Parents and friends are welcome at the "Mock Battle of the Books" and "Battle of the Books" events. Registration usually takes place in June; the program usually takes place on Tuesdays from mid-June through August. Visit the official website for more details.
