DESCRIPTION: RSVP offers diverse and creative volunteer opportunities to seniors 55+. Partnered with over 125 organizations in Suffolk County, the program has volunteers at every place from environmental centers, museums, schools, soup kitchens, hospitals and arts centers. RSVP matches the skills, talents and passions of the retiree with a community service where they can make a difference, choosing their own hours and days. The program offers liability insurance and an annual luncheon where they are paid tribute to for their volunteerism.

DESCRIPTION: Invites people from all walks of life to work together in partnership to help build houses with families in need. Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds and rehabilitates decent houses with the help of the homeowner (partner) families. In addition to a monthly mortgage payment, each homeowner family invests hundreds of hours of their own labor. ReStore program sells donated building supplies to the general public at reduced prices. DESCRIPTION: Not-for-Profit Organization. A multifaceted agency to help those in need based on the principle that everyone should be treated with dignity and respect. Coordinates a network of 16 soup kitchens throughout Long Island, with 22 locations serving over 400,000 meals annually. Also runs four emergency shelters for the homeless.
