DESCRIPTION: This program helps to remove architectural barriers in owner occupied homes of
handicapped persons (no life estates accepted). Assistance will be limited to $40,000 per household.
Financing will be provided in the form of deferred loans. All loans will require a mortgage lien on the
property. To be eligible to participate in the program, the applicant must be a resident of the Town of
Brookhaven and meet the definition of a handicapped person or have a dependent who is handicapped
living with him/her who meets that definition. Income eligibility is based on the gross annual income of
all household members.

CCE is a nonprofit educational agency affiliated with Cornell University established to help strengthen
families and communities, enhance and protect our environment, foster economic development, and
promote sustainable agriculture. Each county's extension provides programs, support and research-based
information according to the county's needs, which have evolved dramatically here in Suffolk since
our inaugural year, 1917. Program sites and offices can be found throughout Suffolk County, while

DESCRIPTION: The Long Island Dispute Resolution Center (LIDRC) is a conflict resolution program
that helps individuals, families, businesses, and the community at large resolve disputes. LIDRC handles
a variety of disputes such as family conflicts (including marital disputes), parent/child conflicts, custody
and visitation, school related issues (such as special education mediation and peer mediation), early
intervention, and community-related disputes such as neighbor, landlord/tenant, small claims disputes,
and lemon law arbitration. Most services free of charge to Nassau and Suffolk County residences.
