How do I get a library card?

Any resident of the Longwood Central School District, 17 years of age or older, upon presentation of one current proof of residency (ie.: current driver's license, school ID, report card, recent utility or telephone bill, car registration, car insurance card, etc.) may complete an application and be issued a library card with full privileges and responsibilities. Library cards expire after 3 years and must be renewed in person at the Circulation Desk.

Getting a Card for My Child

An application for a library card for a child or teen must be completed and signed by a parent or legal guardian responsible for the minor. The parent or legal guardian, by signing the application, accepts responsibility for late or lost materials. At the time of application, the parent or legal guardian must choose whether the minor has Internet access in the library.

Can't wait?

Temporary library barcodes are available for Longwood Central School District residents who do not already have a library card. Temporary barcodes are honored for 30 days. With the barcode, you can download ebooks, use online research tools and place holds on materials. Click Here and enter your residence information to begin the process. Borrowing library materials is contingent on getting a permanent card.

Your Library Account and Password
  • You can access your library account online. Visit My Account or select login when searching the library catalog.
  • Type the barcode from the back of your library card.
  • Enter your password.  If you do not have a password, you will need to have an email account on file with the library in order to create one.
  • Click Login or press Enter.

Where else can I use my card?

Your current Longwood Public Library card may be used at public libraries in Suffolk County.

What if I lose my card?

Please report a lost card immediately. We will mark it as lost, which protects you if it is misused. You may get a replacement card for $1.
